Kashmiri words, not Urdu with an accent

Yi chu apna Kashmiryou said panun

Almost no mainstream tool lists Kashmiri, so you pick Urdu and get Urdu back. "Panun" becomes "apna", and every line after it is in a language you weren't speaking. An Urdu model doesn't know the words and can't hear the vowels that tell them apart. Kalakar lists Kashmiri as its own language, with Roman and Native output from the same transcription, on the free plan, so you read the transcript on your own clip before paying for anything.

Kashmiri script, Urdu script or Roman. Pick on purpose.

Kashmiri is written in a Perso-Arabic alphabet extended with vowel marks Urdu doesn't use, drawn right to left, and many speakers read plain Urdu script more fluently than the Kashmiri extension of it. Kashmiri script is the respectful choice for music, poetry and cultural content. Roman needs no special font and reaches Delhi, the UK and North America as easily as the Valley. Test both on the same clip.

A collapsed vowel is one wrong word.

Kashmiri makes vowel distinctions Urdu and Hindi don't, and a model trained on those languages folds several Kashmiri vowels into one. Since the vowel is often what separates two words, the word changes with it, and that error survives even when the language is right. Tap the word and retype it. One collapsed vowel is one wrong word, not a wrong line, and the timing on either side doesn't move.

A walk through the Valley, cleaned first.

A song, or a walk through the Valley with the phone held out in front of you, comes with wind and road noise. Kashmiri has less training data behind it than Hindi or Urdu, and accuracy depends on audio quality, so run audio enhancement before you generate. The pass runs on cleaned audio, and you'll tap fewer words afterwards.

How to caption Kashmiri in Kalakar

Select Kashmiri, not Urdu, choose Native or Roman, generate. If you went Native, check that the first wrapped line runs right to left with the letters joined; that's where RTL breaks show first. Fix the odd vowel, apply a template, export, and the video travels to Jammu, Delhi and the diaspora with the sound off.

  1. Upload your video. Drag an MP4 or MOV into app.kalakar.io. Vertical 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, or 16:9 for YouTube; both are supported.
  2. Select Kashmiri as the spoken language. Pick Kashmiri from the language menu. Turn on audio enhancement first if the recording is noisy.
  3. Choose Roman or Native script. Roman gives you Kashmiri in English letters. Native gives you Perso-Arabic (Kashmiri variant). Timings are the same either way.
  4. Edit, style and export. Fix any word in a tap, apply a caption template, then export a burned-in MP4, an SRT or VTT file, or an alpha-channel render for Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
