Nepali verbs, ending the Nepali way

Aaja hami Pokhara jaate hainyou said janchhaun

Nepali and Hindi share Devanagari and plenty of roots. A model trained on a mountain of Hindi and a hill of Nepali hears the shared roots and borrows the endings from Hindi, so "janchhaun" comes back as "jaate hain". Kalakar lists Nepali separately with its own model, tuned on Nepali as it's spoken on YouTube and TikTok in Nepal and across the diaspora, so the grammar comes back as yours.

Devanagari for Nepal. Roman for the diaspora.

Devanagari suits news commentary, education, devotional and travel content aimed at viewers in Nepal, and anything watched on a larger screen. Roman Nepali is how Nepal types on TikTok and Facebook, and it's the natural pick for the diaspora in the Gulf, the UK and Australia who speak Nepali daily and read Devanagari less often. Both come from one transcription, so revisiting the choice costs nothing.

A Hindi-flavoured spelling is a one-tap fix.

Nepali writes many shared words differently from Hindi, and a Hindi-trained model treats the Nepali spelling as an error and corrects it. Kalakar's Nepali output uses Nepali spellings. If one still comes back Hindi-flavoured, tap that word and retype it. Every word keeps its own timing, so the line around it stays put and you never retype a whole caption to change one letter.

Trail wind and traffic, cleaned before transcription.

Travel vlogs get recorded on trails, in traffic and in wind, and that noise pulls accuracy down before the model hears a syllable. Turn on audio enhancement and the pass runs on cleaned audio. On clear audio Nepali transcribes at up to 97%, and cleaning a noisy clip first is the cheapest way to get closer to that on the road to Pokhara.

How to caption Nepali in Kalakar

Nepali is in the menu with its own model, on the free plan like every other language, with plans priced in Nepali rupees. Pick Nepali, pick a script, generate, then read three lines aloud to check the verbs end the Nepali way. A big share of your audience is abroad with the sound off, so the captions do more work than the audio.

  1. Upload your video. Drag an MP4 or MOV into app.kalakar.io. Vertical 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, or 16:9 for YouTube; both are supported.
  2. Select Nepali as the spoken language. Pick Nepali from the language menu. Turn on audio enhancement first if the recording is noisy.
  3. Choose Roman or Native script. Roman gives you Nepali in English letters. Native gives you Devanagari. Timings are the same either way.
  4. Edit, style and export. Fix any word in a tap, apply a caption template, then export a burned-in MP4, an SRT or VTT file, or an alpha-channel render for Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
